Legacy Pointe Eatery

This locally owned eatery creates made-from-scratch dishes ranging from simple to sophisticated. It claims to bring together "a team of passionate chefs to create a menu of delicious and creative dishes. From classic comfort food to more daring dishes, our chef is always challenging himself to stay ahead of the curve." Seasonal ingredients play an important role in creating a one-of-a-kind dining experience.

General Manager Dustin Coons began his food-service career in 2004 as a 16-year-old, working as a dishwasher at Charlie Parker's. He then worked at other establishments before leaving home to work at restaurants in Chicago and Atlanta, expanding his culinary skillset. When he returned to his hometown in 2017, he was the executive chef tasked with opening a new kitchen at Finley's Tap House. After a successful opening and operation for several years, he left to join Sangamon Brewing Co. where he further developed his skills in setting up a kitchen and restaurant from concept to opening day.

Coons launched Legacy Pointe Eatery in 2022, and it quickly became known for its willingness to accommodate diners with a variety of needs. Many dishes are adapted to be gluten-free. Close attention is paid to other top allergen groups, and the restaurant is a nut-free facility.

At the time of this writing, the restaurant is participating in the Springfield Vegan Chef Challenge and earned last year's title of Best Veganized Dish. Several vegetarian options are offered regularly, including handhelds, flatbreads, soups and salads.
