PLACE TO PLAY POOL

Floyd’s Thirst Parlor

Opened in 2002 and run by business partners Andrew Denton and Jeremy Bredemeyer since 2016, Floyd's Thirst Parlor sports a curated selection of beer, a regularly updated cocktail menu and a favorite spirits list. The business operates a full bar and an arcade with table hockey and other games in addition to pool tables.

Readers chose to recognize this downtown hangout as the best place to play pool, a new category this year. Whether you're out for a quiet night on the town or celebrating with family and friends, Springfield says that the cozy, cutting-edge atmosphere at Floyd's Thirst Parlor is the place to be. With its vintage mood-lighting and stained-glass decor, wood-paneled brick walls and copper, industrial pipes, a game of pool played in this romantic environment is a rich experience, and one worth having.

And it certainly doesn't hurt that Floyd's has more to offer than other late-night drinking establishments. The 3rd Shift Kitchen opened last year to provide decadent food options to patrons who are hungry for an early dinner with their drinks or for an appetizing midnight snack – vegan and vegetarian items included. Last year, 3rd Shift Kitchen was a finalist in the best new restaurant, best burger and best late-night eats categories. Readers clearly like the food options at Floyd's, and now they are recognizing the entertainment options as well.
