OVERALL BAND / ORIGINAL BAND

Lick Creek

Now hard at it for more than 10 years, Lick Creek continues to dominate the local scene as a top band. Mixing some originals along with an ever-changing list of popular covers to straddle a country and rock sound, our readers say Lick Creek is the best we've got to offer in Springfield.

Originally started by lead singer Lance Stone in 2013, the current group of musicians "are like family" and include Clint Brockmeyer (lead guitar, harmonica, mandolin), Ryan King (lead guitar, banjo, mandolin) Jimmy Cloney (bass, vocals), Maddie Brown (acoustic guitar, lead vocals) and Bob Bryant (drums) with an occasional sit-in from violinist Polly Launay.

They've opened for plenty of big-time acts, played all over the Midwest, reached the finals of the Nash Next national talent search contest, released an EP in 2017 plus a full-length album, Too Damn Country, in 2019 and continue to play several times a month around the area.

As they say on their Facebook page (with some 16,000 followers), "Lick Creek is its own thing. You can't compare it and you can't explain it. You gotta come to a show and see for yourself." With a live performance that's just unbelievable and unbeatable, maybe that's the key to understanding the overwhelming popularity of the band and why our readers voted Lick Creek as better than the rest.
