Once again, Micah Walk takes first place as the best songwriter in Springfield as our readers very much appreciate that he takes the songwriting challenge as a serious and profound task, using his innate ability to shape words and melodies into memorable pieces of art for us to experience.
From his days as a young man in Girard with aspirations to make music, Micah moved to Springfield (with a few other stops along the way) some 20 years ago and began performing with various bands and as a solo artist. Through the release of his eponymous 2014 debut CD, on to his latest recording in 2021, Among the Stars (produced in Nashville by Jason Isbel's lead guitarist Sadler Vaden), as well as composing a steady release of original material while playing in other groups including The Deep Hollow, the Blue Gs and his own Micah Walk Band, the tunes just keep on coming.
Through his years of professionally teaching guitar, he's also encouraged several students to try their hand at penning songs, helping to promote another generation of Springfield songwriters, where one might someday find the next best songwriter around.
