This year's voters awarded two more top honors to Charlie Parker's Diner and nudged the restaurant's awards total close to 30 for great food, big portions and a serving team that has rustled up hearty food in the same location since 1992.
Fan favorite Charlie Parker's just seems to keep getting better with today's crowds, although first glances feel like a blast from the past complete with a Quonset hut building and red, white, black and yellow color scheme. But the perennial favorite eatery is just as popular today as ever. The eatery has even been featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" and in numerous magazines and newspapers.
Charlie Parker's, now operated by sixth owner Bill Pope, serves breakfast all day until close at 2 p.m., as well as "hot and hearty" lunches, sandwiches, specials and Charlie's famous horseshoes to round out the selection. And don't forget about those giant pancakes – anyone who manages to eat four of the dinner-sized pancakes in one sitting gets them on the house, plus a $20 gift card and T-shirt or hat.
Congratulations to Charlie Parker's, old school with a fun, fast vibe and real Springfield staying power.
