This guided walking tour offers opportunities for learning and reflection as part of Three Hot Days in August, a citywide observance of the 1908 Springfield Race Riot. Guides will share stories not only of hatred and devastation but of courage and resilience in the face of concerted attack on Springfield's African-American citizens. Tour leaders will present difficult history truthfully but with sensitivity. Time will be allowed for questions and conversation. This walking tour requires a little more than one hour of walking and standing. Meet at Lincoln statues on Adams Plaza (south of Old State Capitol).
