Beyond Enrollment

As of 2015-2016, first-generation students accounted for 56 percent of all US undergraduates, highlighting higher education's role in fostering upward mobility. Regrettably, however, data from a 2022 Education Data report reveals a 92.2 percent higher dropout rate for first-generation students compared to their peers, indicating unrealized aspirations and potential financial struggles. This talk will emphasize the critical need for the higher education sector to address these disparities urgently.
