Billy Sunday 1909 Revival Celebration

Uploaded by Tom Hay
Six Weeks that Saved The Soul Of Springfield
Billy Sunday was a professional baseball player for the Chicago White Stockings (which later became the Cubs) and was known as the "Fastest Man in Baseball!" At the height of his career, he left baseball to become an evangelist - the Billy Graham of his day! In 1909, Billy Sunday came to Springfield - 6 months after the 1908 Race Riots. He held tabernacle tent meetings for six weeks that were attended by thousands. During this time, over 4,700 souls were saved and many local churches grew. The celebration of this event is taking place May 28 - Pentecost Sunday.
