Join the UIS History Department for Black History Month speaker Dr. Brian Mitchell, who will present, “On the Road to Finding Oscar James Dunn (1822-1871), the Nation’s First Black Executive Officer.” The presentation narrates two intertwined stories: the journey of Louisiana’s first black lieutenant governor and Mitchell’s dedicated efforts to resurrect the legacy of this overlooked leader. Refreshments included.
