Sangamon County Historical Society Meeting
Mike Kienzler, SangamonLink.org editor, will discuss the Sangamon County Poor Farm's history and its residents, and show long lost portraits of some residents that were drawn in 1912 or 1913. The Poor Farm was operated near Buffalo from 1870 to 1944 and was the last resort for county residents who were too old, poor or feeble to take care of themselves and had no friends or relatives to take them in. Also at the meeting, Reisch Charities will present a $1,000 check to the society.
