Mike Kienzler will discuss the history of the Sangamon County Poor Farm and its residents. The Poor Farm was operated near Buffalo from 1870 to 1944 and was the home of last resort for county residents who were too old, poor or feeble to take care of themselves and had no friends or relatives to take them in. Kienzler, the SangamonLink editor, served as metro editor of The State Journal-Register for nearly 40 years.
