The Significance of Gertrude Stein

Come experience Art History Happy Hour with our speaker, Michael Houser. With a 50-year fascination with Gertrude Stein, Mr. Houser will reveal Stein’s significance as an American writer and supporter of the arts by covering selected artworks of her collection that were inaugurated into what is considered the first museum of modern art. He will also elaborate on the many images of her produced by numerous artists from Picasso to Picabia. This is a perfect chance to get to know Gertrude Stein, the mother of modernism, and how she influenced some of the most famous painters in history.
