Third Thursday Program

“Illinois Audubon Sanctuaries: Preserving Geological and Cultural History” presented by Michael Wiant, Director Emeritus, Illinois State Museum—Dickson Mounds. Every parcel of land has a story to tell that ranges from contemporary efforts to restore and conserve habitat to its geological history, and everything in between. Michael Wiant will describe how his survey of archaeological and historical resources embodied by Illinois Audubon Society sanctuaries encouraged him to consider the larger story of the land in the IAS sanctuary system.
