Author Taylor Pensoneau will speak on a period of lawlessness in downstate Illinois extending from the 1920s into the 1960s. His two books on the era, Brothers Notorious - The Sheltons and Dapper & Deadly, cover the exploits of the infamous outfit headed by the Shelton brothers, a murderous gang war, the resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan, widespread bootlegging, illegal gambling and labor racketeering.
